Biscuits are a Southern staple and my mom makes the BEST. Pregnancy has had me craving carbs and the first thing I want is my momma’s biscuits with a good meal. With my busy schedule, it’s not always convenient to mix, roll, cut out, and bake biscuits. Luckily I found an easier method that gives you the same delicious result. Drop biscuits. Drop biscuits use the same biscuit recipe and method, except one you have your dough, you drop a spoon-full onto a greased pan or skillet and bake! No kneading, rolling or cutting required.
- 2c Flour
- 1tbsp Baking Powder
- 1/2c Salted Butter (1 stick) if using unsalted butter, add in 2tsp of salt to dough
- 3/4- 1c Milk (any dairy or non-dairy milk will work)
- Garlic, herbs, shredded cheese are optional add-in’s
Preheat oven to 450*. Mix together dry ingredients, cut in butter, stir in milk. Use a large spoon or 2″ cookie scoop to scoop dough and drop onto greased cast iron skillet (or round cake pan). Fill skillet, it’s okay for dough balls to touch. Brush tops with butter (optional) and bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
